It is said that the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.

In light of that, it has become clear to me that printers drive people insane.

The most common form of idiocy I see with regards to printers is when someone presses ‘Print’ on their computer, and their work doesn’t come out of the printer next to them, so they press print again.

And again.


Usually after about the 8th time they either give up or call IT Support, only for us to tell them that they’ve just printed 160 pages on a printer across the other side of school due to being too ignorant to check which printer they’ve selected.

Sometimes they just keep going until the 9th copy of their 1.9GB print job, stalled because it’s too big for the printer to handle, fills up the print server’s hard disk and stops every network printer in the school from working.
