There’s a reason that when people walk into our office, they find an average of two computers per person.
It’s not because we’re greedy. In fact, there is a rule in our school that only two people have more than one computer: the Head, and the Deputy Head.
We have these extra machines so that we can try stuff out without destroying a computer that is important. This is noteworthy because we completely tanked one of them not long ago while trying out a Microsoft system repair tool. LadiesMan says it’s my fault because I suggested trying the tool in the first place. I maintain that before he clicked the repair button, I expressed a distinct amount of incredulity at the things it claimed were broken.
Ironically, once broken, the tool failed miserably at repairing the damage it had done. For any other support people out there: beware of the System File Check functionality in ERD Commander 5.0 (version 6.0 for Vista is golden, however).
