Any day that starts with a UPS whining that the battery needs replacing, and a server that mysteriously won’t boot up, is an annoying one.

Especially when it happens before breakfast.

For whatever reason the UPS at home decided that today was the day it would start whinging about its battery, though the warning went away after power cycling it. Of course, the server attached to it refused to boot up after the power cycle. Among other things, this box hosts the RADIUS server that controls access to the wireless, so if it’s down, nothing can connect to the wireless.

If nothing can connect to the wireless, Mrs Angry Technician cannot get her morning intarwebs fix.

Given the seniority of the user in our organisation, this is something that must be fixed post-haste.
