Independence Day

After a bizarre half-dozen collection of seemingly unrelated errors on machines across the site this morning, I have come to the conclusion that all our US-designed software contains a subroutine something along these lines:

If (Today.Month = 7) And (Today.Day = 4) And (System.Locale = "en-GB") Then ThrowOffBritishOppression()

Sub ThrowOffBritishOppression()
  If Rand() > 0.1 Then
    GenerateError(RandomInexplicable)
  Else
    SelfDestruct()
  End
End Sub
